Caroline Woelfel

Caroline is ranked 17th worldwide as the fittest teen in CrossFit.   CrossFit is the sport of fitness, and for some elite athletes, like Caroline, it’s “their sport.”  For an athlete to qualify for the CrossFit Games, they compete against other athletes in their age category for either time-based or max repetition-type workouts.  Each workout is judged by a certified judge and videotaped for accuracy. These specific workouts are not an average workout.  Each workout pushed the athlete to their individual limit with varying movements to include strength-based (weightlifting), endurance (run, swim, bike), and gymnastics (handstand walks, muscle-ups, rope climbs, and more).

A typical day in the life of Caroline:

Five am alarm and out the door by 5:15 am.  Gym by 5:30 am and completes her first workout by 6:30 am. Then, she heads back home to eat breakfast and to school by 7:30 am for a full day of academics. Finally, she clocks out of school at 2:10 pm and heads right to work, where she teaches golf, private sessions, and holds golf clinics.

Then she is back to the gym to train some nights until 10 pm.  Most days, she is burning upwards of 2400 calories or more.  In addition to her daily schedule, she has to factor in her nutrition and ensure she is properly fueled to sustain her daily routine.

Nutrition &  Recovery

Every Sunday night, she must ensure her meals are prepared for the week ahead. Sleep is made a priority, and recovery is factored in, all factors are a critical foundation of maintaining her energy and building strength.

It comes down to pure dedication, focus, and a deeper understanding of learning and listening to her body to become one of the fittest teens in the world, yes, the WORLD!

In addition to CrossFit, Caroline has been a two-time MetroWest all-star for her all-around performances on the FHS gymnastics team, where she will be a co-captain next year. In addition, she is the current women’s golf champion at the Franklin Country club and is a three-year member of the FHS men’s varsity golf team.  To top it off, she maintains a GPA over 4.0 through it all.
